Lab Lateral lead panel of security experts at Infosec 2009's Security Expert Forum
London, UK (28/04/2009)
At this year's Infosec exhibition and conference, one of the major themes was application security. With Lab Lateral being a reseller of Mobilegov application security software, they were in a good position to host a panel on this subject on Tuesday 28th April for around 100 delegates. On the panel were Mauro Israel, IS Security Expert, Mobilegov, Mr Francois-Pierre Le Page, CEO of Mobilegov and Mr Tim Butler, Sales Director, Lab Lateral Ltd.
Application Security Discussions
The subject of the forum was 'The Keys to Effective Application Security'. The discussion focused on the common weaknesses and exploitable features in various applications. The rationale behind the technologies and tools available to treat these vulnerabilities was also examined. Given the daily security threats to IT infrastructure, originating from IT devices themselves, the need to gain knowledge and control over hardware connections is ever increasing.
IT Security Challenges
Applications are designed and programmed for ease of use, but this feature itself presents security challenges. This is a fast growing problem within Information Security, and every year sees an increase in companies offering services to test, protect and remedy application flaws at the coding and firewall level. One critical area frequently overlooked is contracted application and web application services. This is especially applicable to small and medium sized businesses, where a clear trend is emerging of security being a secondary consideration to applicability.
Application Security Solutions
Lab Lateral was delighted to host this forum in conjunction with its security software partner. Mobilegov provides innovative IT security solutions that help protect information on workstations, USB sticks and when accessing online services. This security software takes the next step in protecting sensitive data and authenticating users by incorporating the Digital DNA, a patented technology based on the thorough identification of any digital equipment.
The forum was a great success with lively discussions on applications security and everyone agreeing that this topic is one of the most important aspects of IT security today.
